Following an outstanding 99.2% pass rate at A level for Bexhill College on Thursday 16th August, the College has now confirmed that these results put them in the top 25% of Colleges for value added.
Not only did the College achieve an 81% A*-C pass rate with 50% of students or 1 in 2 achieving an A*-B grade, this means the majority of students did better than their GCSE results would have predicted.
This reflects the hard work and focus the College puts into supporting every student to achieve the grade they are capable of.
This excellent performance marks the 25th year the College has produced results above the national averages and continues the College’s history of high academic achievement. Such performance confirms Bexhill College’s long standing status as one of the best College’s in Sussex and the top performing Sixth Form College in the area.
Bexhill College prides itself on being open access and providing opportunities for students of all abilities. The College had approximately 1000 A Level entries this summer in 46 subjects, with of these 42 subjects achieved an impressive 100% pass rate, including Chemistry, Physics, Business Studies, all three English A levels, Modern History, Further Maths, Economics, PE, Film Studies, Drama, French and Geography. An additional three subjects achieved pass rates in the high 90’s. This is a fantastic achievement for is non-selective College.
Alongside A Levels, almost 880 entries for a wide range of Level 3 vocational qualifications this summer, which achieved a 99% pass rate with 80% high grades. Many students achieved distinction stars in their Extended Diplomas, which were taken in a range of subjects including Business, IT, Applied Science, Sports Science, Performing Arts and Music, Health and Social Care and Travel and Tourism. These results are equivalent to three A grades at A Level and lead to places in top universities.
College Principal, Karen Hucker, commented: “The performance of our students this year has been outstanding and reflects an incredible amount of hard work by students and teachers plus a lot of support from parents. To achieve results which place us in the top 25% of Colleges for value added is a fantastic achievement for all given the increase in challenge in many of the exams.

These results bring another successful year for Bexhill College to a conclusion as the College continues to go from strength to strength.
This continuing success has led to strong applications for September from young people in the area and from further afield.
